How does IBA Program Search works?

After you've typed a search term (or search terms) into the query box and clicked on the "Search" button, IBA Program Search looks for matches in index area of the database. Results are determined by looking for matches on all words in the query box.

Here are some specific tips about using keywords with IBA Program Search:
  • Specify words that must appear in the results.
  • Use quotation marks around words that are part of a phrase.
    For example, "apple pie"
  • Use and to search for documents that have both words in it.
    For example, "apples and pie"
  • Specify words that should not appear in the results. Attach not in front of words that must not appear in result documents.
    For example, "apples not oranges"
  • Use or to serach for document that have either work in it.
    For example, "apples or pie"
  • Use (parentheses) to specify how ANDs and ORs should be treated by the search. Words within parentheses are considered a unit, and are considered first.
For example, "apples or (apple and pie)"
    "apples and (tart not pie)"
  • Use wildcard * instead of any number (including 0) of missing characters
For example, a search for "fu*" would find fugazi and fuchsia.
  • Use ? instead a single missing characters
For example, a search for "?ar?et" would find carpet and target, but not learget.
