Upcoming Webinars

Opening Deposit Accounts Web Seminar Series
These Web seminars are for frontline personnel who routinely open deposit accounts and those who supervise, audit or review the process. Content is at the basic or intermediate level. It does not reflect the laws of a particular state.

Opening Business Accounts | March 18 • 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Employees responsible for opening deposit accounts face real challenges. How do they verify that the business exists? How do they document that the people across the desk have the authority to act for the business? Increasingly, federal laws dictate some account documentation requirements. Documentation may vary by state. Nevertheless, each bank establishes its own requirements for the business accounts it opens. This seminar explains the most common forms of organization business customers use: sole proprietorships, corporations and LLCs.

Opening Personal Accounts | April 2 • 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Consumer deposit accounts make up the largest number of new relationships opened by most banks every day. Critical compliance processes must be completed or the bank can expect criticism in its regulatory examinations and audits. Account opening takes well-trained personnel whose efficiency depends on the subject matter expertise and clear procedural guidelines. This seminar addresses customer identification programs, IRS requirements for TIN certification, customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence and consumer protection laws and the distribution of disclosures.

Fiduciary Accounts | April 28 • 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
The fiduciary’s responsibilities are readily translated into legal requirements that fiduciaries must fulfill, always being certain that their actions are well documented and bear in mind the best interests of the person on whose behalf they are acting. Oftentimes, a fiduciary such as a guardian, a custodian, an attorney-in-fact, or a personal representative is required to open bank accounts and handle funds as a part of that fiduciary relationship. This program focuses on those occasions.
