Prepare for the Iowa Credit Life and Disability Licensing Exam

The Iowa Bankers Association is pleased to offer a one-day Credit Life and Disability Workshop designed to assist you in preparation for the Iowa Credit Life and Disability Licensing Examination. The course is specifically designed for the State of Iowa and the material parallels the state insurance examination outline.

The first of three Credit Life and Disability Workshops will take place June 26 in Coralville. Other workshop dates are scheduled for October 2 in Storm Lake and December 4 in Johnston.

BSA Frontline Training offered during May

Each regulatory agency requires that financial institutions provide Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training for appropriate personnel, including, but not limited to tellers, customer service representatives, lending officers and all other customer contact personnel.

The Iowa Bankers Association is offering eight BSA Frontline Training evening seminars that cover all of the required elements for annual BSA training.

The seminars will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. IBA members may choose to attend any of the following eight dates and locations:

  • May 12 Denison
  • May 13 Sioux City
  • May 14 Okoboji
  • May 15 Mason City
  • May 19 Fort Dodge
  • May 20 Decorah
  • May 21 Cedar Falls
  • May 22 Cedar Rapids

Having an effective plan is a FFIEC requirement. This program will discuss FFIEC and best practices for an effective BCP/DRP. Participants will learn:

  • The difference between a business continuity and disaster recovery plan.
  • Key steps - how to assess your plan and identify weaknesses
  • How meet or exceed examiner expectations.
  • Lessons learned from Katrina and more.

Part 3: June 6 • 1:30–3:30
Pandemic Preparedness – Is it Necessary?
The FFIEC agencies jointly issued guidance addressing the need to be prepared for a pandemic influenza outbreak, the impact on delivery of services and the need for a written plan. Is pandemic a serious threat? What do you really need to do to comply with examiner guidelines? The real question is will your institution be prepared for the challenges a pandemic outbreak may present?

Topics include:

  • The difference between business continuity planning and pandemic planning.
  • Planning, preparing, monitoring and testing.
  • Lessons learned from the 2007 FBIIC/FSSCC Pandemic exercise.
