The IBA Agriculture department works to maintain a high-profile image and level of involvement of IBA member institutions in our state’s agricultural industry. Activities include the Ag Bankers Conference, Iowa Ag Credit School, Farm Progress Show, 4-H fundraising campaign, ag lender internship program and much more. The IBA Agricultural department also serves as a liaison to the IBA/Farm Service Agency committee and between the banking and farming industries.

BUILD (Bankers Unite In Legislative Decisions)
BUILD is the political action committee (PAC) of the Iowa Bankers Association. Its purpose is to raise funds through personal contributions from officers, shareholders and directors of IBA member banks. All contributions to BUILD are voluntary. Disbursements of PAC funds are based on input from bankers and approved by the IBA Legislative Committee.

Calendar Program
The IBA offers a unique calendar, developed exclusively for member banks who purchase calendars as gifts. Titled “Scenes of Iowa,” this beautiful calendar is a high-quality, low-cost marketing tool for bankers who want to keep their bank name and logo in front of their customers - all year long. Calendar photos are taken by bank employees, bank directors and their families and are all “scenes of Iowa”. Calendars are custom imprinted for each bank and the “Your Future. Our Focus” logo is displayed throughout its pages.
Capitol Hill Visit
Each year the IBA takes a delegation of Iowa bankers to Washington, D.C., where scheduled briefings allow bankers and regulators to share open dialogue on problems and concerns. Bankers also meet with Iowa senators and representatives one-on-one to exchange views on pending legislation.

The Iowa Bankers Association provides a “prototype” employee handbook exclusively to members. Policies from the manual may be adopted as written or may serve as a model for banks wishing to create or update their own editions. Exchange
Exchange is the Iowa Bankers Association’s bi-monthly newsletter available exclusively to IBA members, associate members, and special banking audiences (e.g. legislators, regulators, etc.). Insurance Continuing Education Classes and Home Study

Iowa Banking Guide
This all-in-one compliance manual reviews the rules and regulations specific to the business of banking in the state of Iowa. Material includes overviews of Iowa banking laws, administrative code and advisory opinions from the Iowa Division of Banking and the Attorney General’s Office. Introduced in the Fall of 1998, the guide is updated annually to reflect changes in Iowa’s banking laws.

Iowa Commercial Lending School
The Iowa Commercial Lending School provides a broad-based education to commercial lenders who have not been exposed to formal commercial lending education or lenders who want to increase their commercial lending knowledge. This school is held annually in October.

The Iowa Bankers Association produces a comprehensive listing of every deposit-taking institution in Iowa. An indispensable resource to Iowa’s financial institutions, the Directory includes information on Iowa’s savings and loans and credit unions, as well as in-depth information on the state’s commercial banks. Also listed are state and federal regulatory agencies, trade associations, correspondent banks, multi-bank holding companies in Iowa and a directory of IBA and subsidiary/affiliate organizations.

Iowa School of Banking
Through a two-year program, the Iowa School of Banking prepares first-level, exempt and mid-level managers to effectively serve the financial needs of their customers. This school is held annually in June.

On-Site Compliance Training
IBA’s compliance staff will design compliance training to meet individual banks’ needs. Training incorporates rules specific to the bank’s primary federal regulator, as well as insight on various state laws from the Iowa Division of Banking. Peer Group Coordination Program
This program allows you to focus on the most important part of your peer group meeting - the interaction with your peers. The Iowa Bankers Association understands that peer groups belong to their members, but with busy schedules, it is often difficult to plan and coordinate meetings. For an annual fee of $150 per group member, plus meeting expenses, your group will receive meeting coordination, professional services and networking facilitation.

State Basketball Tournament Scholarships - Boys and Girls
Each year, the IBA actively participates as sponsors and advertisers in the highly visible Iowa Boys and Iowa Girls State High School Basketball Tournaments. In addition to the sponsorships, the IBA also awards five scholarships to participating male and female athletes who excel not only on the court but also in their schools and communities.

Trees For Kids Program
Trees for Kids is a coordinated tree education and planting program for elementary students in Iowa. Local nurseries sell the trees to schools at cost and the trees are purchased with funds donated by the banks. It’s a great way for Iowa banks to gain visibility and lend support to local elementary schools.

Wrestling Scholarships
A new scholarship program was developed in 2003 to add to the girls and boys basketball scholarships the IBA awards each year. In conjunction with the Iowa High School Athletic Association, the IBA annually awards a $1,000 scholarship to an outstanding athlete during the Iowa High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Tournaments.

A new advertising campaign was developed in 2001 to create awareness among our Iowa lawmakers of the importance of the banking industry in the state.
