Apply Now for IBA Advocacy Program

Leaders in Advocacy

The Iowa Bankers Association’s Leaders in Advocacy program will return in 2022, and the IBA is now accepting applications. The IBA established the Leaders in Advocacy program to build an advocacy base of leaders who are educated on banking industry issues and understand how to effectively communicate with legislators and regulators. The program runs from January through October each year. Participants will attend monthly meetings and visits to the Capitol, and work to establish a bank advocacy plan to implement at their local banks. They will also join the IBA on its annual Capitol Hill Visit in June.

Applicants must be:

  • Nominated by bank as an emerging leader;
  • Selected by the IBA government relations team as a potential key advocate for the industry; or
  • A graduate of the IBA Leadership Institute and/or motivated and driven to advocate for the industry.

Applications are due Dec. 1. Visit the IBA website to learn more, or email IBA’s Jenica Lensmeyer with questions.

Registration is $500, which covers all meetings and two nights of Capitol Hill Visit lodging in Washington, D.C. Participants will be responsible for flight costs to and from Washington, D.C. and for in-state meeting lodging and transportation.
