IBA PACs: 2021 Campaigns Underway

The 2021 political action committee campaigns are underway. The Iowa Bankers Association has two PACs, both enhancing its advocacy efforts and contributing to the success of the banking industry. BUILD (Bankers Unite in Legislative Decisions) raises personal funds for candidates and legislators. In 2020, more than $216,000 BUILD dollars were raised from bank employees and directors. BUILD funds are used to support legislators and candidates for office that support the banking industry. Disbursements of PAC funds are based on input from bankers and approved by the IBA Advocacy & Policy Committee.

I-LEAD (Iowa Leaders in Education and Advocacy) is the IBA's Super PAC. I-LEAD can accept corporate contributions, and it funds initiatives to educate policymakers and their constituents on important issues. Most recently, the IBA partnered with the American Bankers Association to release ads featuring two Iowa bankers urging Iowans to thank Sen. Joni Ernst for working to protect Iowa farmers and small businesses throughout the pandemic.
