2026-27 Rising Bank Exec

Designed for the rising bank leader, this multi-month program equips current and soon-to-be bank leaders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving financial landscape. Through a combination of expert-led sessions, peer collaboration, and real-world case studies, participants will gain deeper insight into the banking industry, explore emerging trends, and develop the leadership and strategic decision-making skills needed to guide their institutions forward. By the end of the program, graduates will be prepared to take on greater responsibility, drive innovation, and lead with impact.

Application Details
Please complete the interest form online. An IBA staff member will follow up with you to confirm and provide instructions on submitting the following:
• Resume
• Organization chart
• Summary of roles and responsibilities
• Summary of professional development goals
• Letter of recommendation from CEO (If you are not currently president or CEO)

Applications must be submitted by June 18, 2026. Attendees will be notified of acceptance by July 10, 2026.

Who Should Apply:
Banker designated as the successor to current bank president, CEO, or bank C-suite leader who has less than three years of experience in current role. Must be nominated by current bank president or CEO. This program is limited to 15 participants to foster a collaborative learning environment.

Program Cost:
The $3,500 fee for the program includes the listed meetings and registration for the IBA’s Convention and Management & Policy Conference, the Iowa Division of Banking’s Day with the Superintendent and the IBA Capitol Hill Visit.

Program Kick-Off
Aug. 26, 2026
The first session is an opportunity to meet fellow rising bank executives in the group while talking about the big picture of community banking and creating organizational culture. There will be time to share your goals and the program’s objectives and discuss how to work with a mentor.

IBA Convention
Sept. 21-23, 2026
Attend the IBA Convention, the premier banking event in the state. With 300+ attendees and over 100 exhibitors, there is an opportunity for education, networking and industry insights. Rising Bank Execs will conclude with a Tuesday lunch.

Banking Industry Information & Resources
Oct. 20, 2026
Learn more about the resources and information available to you as a bank leader. We’ll hear information and updates from IBA and affiliates, as well as the Iowa Division of Banking.

Critical Conversations
Nov. 18, 2026
This workshop will help you with the critical conversations with staff and customers. We’ll focus on tools for meaningful conversations and coaching others.

IBA Management & Policy Conference
Feb. 9-10, 2027
Attend IBA’s Management & Policy Conference. Geared for bank executives, this two-day conference provides updates on the economy, critical emerging issues, legislative updates, and more. The session starts with dinner on Monday prior to the conference and concludes with a Wednesday meeting to share insights and progress toward goals.

Bankers Day on the Hill
March 24, 2027
Join fellow Iowa bankers for the IBA’s Bankers Day on the Hill where you can meet with Iowa legislators and fellow bankers. Following lunch, the group will learn more about the state of the banking industry and emerging issues.

Day with the Superintendent
April 22, 2027
Attend the annual Day with the Superintendent, learning about the state of banking industry and emerging issues. Following the event, the group will engage with experts on succession planning and leading teams through change.

IBA Capitol Hill Visit
June 8-10, 2027
The Capitol Hill Visit provides attendees with an opportunity to discuss issues important to their banks and communities with Iowa’s congressional delegation. Attendees will also have a chance to advocate for the industry with regulators from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
