High School Wrestler Receives 2022 Iowa Bankers Association Student Athlete Achievement Award

Jadyn Peyton of West Delaware High School presented with $1,000 college scholarship during the 2022 Iowa high school state wrestling tournament

DES MOINES, IOWA (Feb. 21, 2022) — Every year, the Iowa Bankers Association presents the Student Athlete Achievement Awards to student athletes who excel not only in scholastic achievement, but overall sports participation and community service accomplishments. Jadyn Peyton, a senior at West Delaware High School, was honored as this year’s recipient of the IBA’s Student Athlete Achievement Award in wrestling. The scholarship presentation aired Saturday during the Iowa high school state wrestling tournament in Des Moines.

Peyton has led his team as a captain for the past three years and as his school’s 4-H president all four years of his high school career.

Dave Smith, marketing president and business development officer at GNB Bank in Manchester, presented Peyton with the $1,000 scholarship to the college of his choice.

“Jadyn is an exceptional model of what we want as a leader on our wrestling team,” said Scott Litterer, West Delaware County Community Schools assistant wrestling coach. “His leadership has made an undeniable impact on the culture of our team, which has led to us winning the class 2A State Dual Meet Championship the past four seasons.”

For three decades, the IBA has sponsored the Student Athlete Achievement Award program, which has grown to honor student athletes in football, basketball and wrestling. The IBA has awarded more than $285,000 in scholarships since the program began.
