Long: Banking with Community at the Core
Brittany Long, operations manager for State Savings Bank, said she chose a career in banking with the goal of impacting the community around her. She said banking allows you to see real-time growth within the community, while growing your career.
Long appreciates the training and networking opportunities the IBA provides. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her children, reading, traveling and being outdoors. 
What drove you to choose a career in banking?
I chose banking with the goal of impacting the community around me. Whether it’s deposits or loans, you’re helping your neighbors with their financial goals.
What is your best elevator pitch for why banking is a great career?
The banking industry allows your career growth to go as far as you’re willing to work. While growing your career, you get to see real time results within your community. It’s a job that gives you a sense of accomplishment and you do meaningful work every year.
How does getting involved with the Iowa Bankers Association help you and your bank?
Being involved with Iowa Bankers Association has helped our organization provide training to our employees while also networking with other Iowa community banks. We can help our employees create career paths while also gaining meaningful connections.
When you’re not at work, what do you like to do most?
I enjoy spending time with my children, reading, traveling, and being outdoors.
