What drove you to choose a career in banking?

I really enjoyed math and leadership in school and was a DECA State Officer in high school. I remember looking at possible career paths in my business class and we took an assessment based off of our strengths and interests. One of the careers the assessment told me I would be well suited for that also peaked my interest was a loan officer. I grew up in a self-employed family and always enjoyed the town pancake breakfasts/community events and would go with my family as a child. It is fun to reminisce on the things I enjoyed as a child and now I get to do similar things in my career as a community banker. My career in banking allows me to serve and give back to the community my family and I call home!

Describe one life experience that taught you a lesson you apply to your banking career.

Every job and person in my hometown is important and has financial goals they are working for. It is my job to help them and encourage them to meet their goals.

What is your best elevator pitch for why banking is a great career?

Banking allows you to serve your friends, neighbors and community.  Money and finances guide decisions and as a community banker, you get to help guide those decisions and help your community thrive.

How does getting involved with the Iowa Bankers Association help you and your bank?

Iowa Bankers provides many great resources and learning opportunities for bankers and they also advocate for legislative issues that matter to community bankers.

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do most?

Enjoying time with my family outdoors, on the water or watching a sporting event my son is participating in.

What is a quote or guiding principle you live by?

Hard work and collaboration always win. We are lifelong learners — always stay curious!
