Bruck Finds Solutions for Family Farms
Connor Bruck is a loan officer at SCSB who strives to be a reliable resource for customers; not just an “order taker.” He understands the work that goes into building and maintaining family farms, which motivates him to be a committed problem solver. Bruck graduated from the University of Iowa despite growing up as an Iowa State fan, but says, “Turns out, it’s hard to convert to being a Hawkeye. Go Cyclones!” Outside of the bank, he enjoys working on the farm, golfing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
What’s something ABOUT YOUR ROLE PEOPLE MIGHT NOT EXPECT?
Something about my role as a loan officer that people might not expect is that you have ask the hard-hitting questions while managing your emotions. Farmers spend their entire lives maintaining or building the family farm, so being able to be a problem solver and provide solutions could “make or break it” for some operations.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Some of the best advice I’ve received is that you want to be a resource for your customer and not just an order taker. Customers can bank “at” any bank, but it’s rare for customers to bank “with” a bank. Banking “with” a bank is when the bank is a reliable resource for the customer.
If you could instantly become an expert in one thing, what would it be?
If I could be an expert in one thing it would be sales.
what’s an interesting or lesser-known fact about you?
I graduated from the University of Iowa after growing up as a huge Iowa State fan. Turns out, it’s hard to convert to being a Hawkeye. Go Cyclones!
What do you do outside of work to recharge?
Outside of work, I spend a lot of time on the golf course, playing cards, and working on the farm. I enjoy keeping myself very busy with all activities, along with traveling and spending time with family.
