Meyer: Making a Difference Behind the Scenes
Emily Meyer works diligently behind the scenes to make sure documents are processed accurately and timely in her role as a deposit operations specialist at Fidelity Bank & Trust. She says she would love to become an instant expert in all things fraud, since it is constantly evolving inside and outside the bank. Meyer grew up driving dirt track race cars, and said, “…if you need help changing an engine or reading through a power of attorney, I’m your girl!” Outside of work, she recharges by watching her three kids play sports and dance, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and going to concerts with her husband.
What’s something ABOUT YOUR ROLE PEOPLE MIGHT NOT EXPECT?
People don’t usually see what happens behind the scenes at a bank. They may interact with their branch teller or loan officer, but the Deposit Ops Team works diligently to make sure every document is processed correctly, accurately, securely and timely. We work together with Retail, Fraud, Compliance, etc. to keep things running smoothly.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Mindset is everything. You can’t always control the workload or other unexpected challenges, but you can control your attitude, effort and quality of work. Positivity begets positivity.
If you could instantly become an expert in one thing, what would it be?
I would love to be an instant expert on all things fraud, because it’s constantly evolving and affects every area of the bank, and even outside of the bank.
what’s an interesting or lesser-known fact about you?
A lesser known fact about me is that I grew up driving dirt track race cars (even won a track championship!) and hold a degree in high performance technology. Somewhere in between, I found a passion for banking, so if you need help changing an engine or reading through a power of attorney, I’m your girl!
What do you do outside of work to recharge?
To recharge I love to hang out with my family, watch my three kiddos play sports/dance, cheer for the Hawkeyes and go to concerts with my husband.
