What drove you to choose a career in banking?
I was seeking a career change that offered more stability and set hours. My mother also spent many years in the banking industry and encouraged me to explore the idea of working at a bank. Her experience and support, combined with my interest in working in a structured, service-oriented environment, ultimately led me to pursue a career in banking.
Describe one life experience that taught you a lesson you apply to your banking career.
One life experience that has influenced my banking career is learning the value of being humble and kind in every interaction. I’ve found that relationships you build both at the bank and in the community are just as important as the work you do. By being open and willing to share my knowledge and help when I can, I’ve been able to create many meaningful connections.
What is your best elevator pitch for why banking is a great career?
Banking is a great career because it combines stability with meaningful impact. You have the opportunity to build long-term relationships, solve financial challenges, and help individuals and businesses succeed financially. Banking offers many career growth opportunities, continuous learning and a chance to give back to your community. All of which gives you the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
How does getting involved with the Iowa Bankers Association help you and your bank?-
The resources for education, leadership and networking the Iowa Bankers Association provides are wonderful. The Iowa Bankers Association has provided me with the opportunity to connect and build relationships with other banking professionals across the state. It is always great to go to an IBA event and see those connections and catch up.
When you’re not at work, what do you like to do most?
When I’m not at work, I enjoy watching and cheering on the Minnesota Wild. I also spend as much time as possible outdoors. Whether it’s enjoying fresh air or staying active outside, it’s a great way for me to recharge and unwind.
