Banking Proves to Be Rewarding Career for Lee

Jackie LeeJackie Lee just recently joined the banking industry — after spending many years in casino and construction marketing — where she works as a business development officer at Community Savings Bank in Guttenberg. “Every day I talk with people about how to manage an essential piece of their life, and I love seeing their hard work and determination turn into reality,” she said.

Lee, who earned a degree in business management from Upper Iowa University, describes herself as a “lifelong sales and marketing professional.” She believes building relationships is important both personally and professionally and says a banking career allows her to do just that by helping people “move forward to be their best financial version of themselves.”

What drove you to choose a career in banking?

I am a lifelong sales and marketing professional. I just recently joined banking after many years in both casino and construction marketing.

What is one lesson working in the banking industry has taught you that you can apply to your everyday life?

Relationship building is the No. 1 most important thing not only in your personal life, but in your professional life.

What is your best elevator pitch for why banking is a great career?

If you love people and are passionate about helping them to move forward to being their best financial version of themselves, this job is for you! Every day I talk with people about how to manage an essential piece of their life, and I love seeing their hard work and determination turn into reality!

How does getting involved with the Iowa Bankers Association help you and your bank?

The IBA does a fantastic job of providing resources for banks. Its unfortunate other industries don’t share best practices amongst competitors as seamlessly as the IBA does.

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do most?

I am very involved in my community. When I’m not doing that, I love to ride my bicycle and think about how to improve businesses with marketing and operational programs and processes. I’m an avid podcast listener, love audiobooks and live to problem solve.

What is a quote or guiding principle you live by?

“Learn as if you were to live forever.”
