Smuck: Helping Guide Life’s Biggest Moments
For Morgan Smuck, trust operations officer at Clear Lake Bank & Trust, her work goes far beyond paperwork — she offers a listening ear and advice to people as they navigate life’s biggest moments. She started at the bank as an intern 11 years ago and has built her career in trust, saying she can’t imagine doing anything else. She is guided by a commitment to staying curious, as the banking industry is constantly evolving. Outside of work, Smuck enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, keeping up with her two energetic boys, and unwinding with a good book.

What’s something ABOUT YOUR ROLE PEOPLE MIGHT NOT EXPECT?
Often times we are helping people navigate major life events and how much people look to us advice and sometimes even just a listening ear. It’s not always just paperwork.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
Stay curious. Our industry is ever changing with laws, regulations, and technology and we will be forever learning.
If you could wake up tomorrow with one extraordinary talent, what would you choose?
I’d wake up with the ability to see three steps ahead in every situation to solve problems before anyone knew the existed!
what’s an interesting or lesser-known fact about you?
I started at the bank as an intern 11 years ago as a teller – but my entire full time working career has been spent in Trust. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
What do you do outside of work to recharge?
Spend time with my family outside and read. I have two rambunctious boys who keep me very busy outside of work.
