Chance to Help Others Draws Adkisson to Banking

Olivia Adkisson croppedOlivia Adkisson is new to the banking industry, but she says her enjoyment of working and interacting with others drew her to the industry. “I really enjoy work that allows me to have a balance of interacting with and helping others, while learning new things,” she said.

As a customer service representative at First Central State Bank in DeWitt, the University of Northern Iowa graduate gets to do just that.

How did you get into banking as a career?

I recently got into banking as a career because of the customer service aspect. I really enjoy work that allows me to have a balance of interacting with and helping others, while learning new things.

Prior to your current role, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had, and what lesson did it teach you that you still use today?

I was given the opportunity to work with a business owner that wanted to open a café, and then was able help lead the team when the café opened. I think one of the biggest areas of growth for me during that time was my leadership abilities.

What is your best elevator pitch for why banking is a great career?

I’ve only been in banking for about a week, but so far I enjoy the opportunity to meet people that live in my community and the connections that could be gained from that.

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do most?

I love spending time with my husband, parents, and siblings. It doesn’t really matter what we are doing. I just like to be around them.
