Iowa Bankers Association Honors Randy Feenstra With Distinguished Public Service Award

Feenstra honored for unwavering support of the banking industry to better Iowa’s communities

JOHNSTON, Iowa (Sept. 21, 2026) – The Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) recently presented Rep. Randy Feenstra (IA-04) with its Distinguished Public Service Award.

The IBA created the award to recognize those in public service who have supported Iowa community banks in their efforts to safeguard $107 billion in deposits and lend over $88 billion to help individuals, business owners and agriculture expand and grow their enterprise and Iowa’s economy.

Feenstra was elected to the Iowa Senate in 2009 and served as a state senator until 2021. He was then elected to Congress for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District. During his time in the Iowa Senate, he led the Senate Ways and Means Committee where he was credited as a “key architect” of the largest state income tax cut in Iowa history. This legislation reduced the tax disparity between banks and credit unions. Feenstra also served on the Senate Commerce Committee, handling financial institution and insurance policy. As congressman, he has served on the Committee on Ways and Means and the Committee on Agriculture. Feenstra was the original sponsor of the Access to Credit for Our Rural Economy (ACRE) Act which reduced borrowing costs for farmers. A modified version of the ACRE Act was included in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. He has been a strong advocate for community banks and agriculture – improving the tax code to promote a competitive and fair marketplace, championing legislation to support farmers, and modernizing regulations to help grow local economies.

“Congressman Randy Feenstra has been an unwavering champion for Iowa’s business community and financial institutions throughout his career in public service,” said Adam Gregg, IBA president and CEO. “During his time in the Iowa Senate and Congress, he delivered real tax relief for Iowans, promoted a regulatory environment for economic growth, and stood up for the small businesses that keep our economy strong.”

In addition to his public service, Feenstra holds a doctorate in Business and Healthcare Administration from Northcentral University. He was born and raised in Hull, Iowa, and he and his wife, Lynette, have four children.
