In-Class Topics (4 hours general): The class will look at the tax reform act and impacts the reform may have on employer sponsored insurance, charitable giving and social programs. We’ll also focus on the ever-changing health care landscape in the United States including an update on the ACA and Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP). The third in-class topic looks at solutions to accumulate and/or protect human and financial capital and gives an insurance market update with emphasis on catastrophic losses and financial issues in the life health insurance market.
In-Class Topics (2 hours ethics): This topic looks at a range of ethical and coverage issues that may be created as corporations de-risk defined benefit plans and replace them with different paradigms. We’ll also discuss risk behaviors that impact insurance markets, create information asymmetries, and create ethical challenges.
