When looking back on your banking career, what achievement are you most proud of and why?
Looking back on my career, I’ve got a few achievements to celebrate. I am proud of the retention of my team and helping them grow in their careers within the company. Since taking over the Treasury Department, my team has grown revenue more than 10% and deposits more than 15%. I am also proud of being recognized both locally and nationally as an emerging leader.
What piece of advice would you give to your past self or to anyone considering a career in banking?
You’re going to face adversity. Find a mentor that advocates for you when you’re not in the room and build relationships throughout the entire organization.
What is your best elevator pitch for why banking is a great career?
Banking is a great career because it’s an industry that helps remove barriers to allow people to succeed, which ultimately makes our communities thrive. We are trusted by our clients to provide solutions that best suite them.
How does getting involved with the Iowa Bankers Association help you and your bank?
The IBA has provided me the opportunity to get involved with the American Bankers Association, created a network of great individuals, and provided several educational opportunities for my team and me. I’m grateful for the advocating IBA does for the industry to ensure that we can take good care of our employees and clients, while remaining compliant.
When you’re not at work, what do you like to do most?
When I’m not at work, you’ll find me spending time with my family outdoors or cheering on our favorite sports teams.
