Jacobson: Rooted in Ag and Relationships
For Nicole Jacobson, AVP of ag and commercial lending at Peoples Bank, success is measured by more than loan growth — it’s about helping customers achieve their long-term goals. Raised in agriculture and deeply involved in the livestock industry, Nicole brings lending expertise and personal passion to her work with ag customers. When she’s not helping customers grow their operations, you’ll likely find her traveling to livestock shows with her family and cheering on her kids in the show ring.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
One thing that sticks in my heads is that as a lender, we always want more and more loan volume, but someone recently told me that the joy of our jobs is helping a long-time customer become debt free. It’s so nice to work with customers for years and see them grow their operations and eventually have no worries.
If you could wake up tomorrow with one extraordinary talent, what would you choose?
I would love to have a good singing voice, I have no musical talent at all.
what’s an interesting or lesser-known fact about you?
I have grown up showing livestock and have continued doing that while raising our children. Growing up, my sister and I were fortunate enough to make it in the Sale of Champions at the Iowa State Fair ten times with sheep. My kids have made it in the Sale of Champion ring three times themselves showing pigs.
What do you do outside of work to recharge?
Time to sit on the beach would be nice but that doesn’t happen often. My family spends a lot of our time away from work around livestock. We travel a lot for livestock shows — the kids both started showing when they were both four years old.
