Schlader Proud to Contribute to Banking Team

Chelle Schlader photoChelle Schlader is a passionate banker who enjoys working on a team. “I have crossed paths with so many people over the past 24 years that have impacted my life in one way or another,” she said. “I am most proud of being part of a team and contributing to one another’s successes by sharing knowledge and experience.”

Today, Schlader shares her knowledge as a loan operations supervisor at First Security Bank & Trust. “I found my passion in banking and I can’t imagine doing anything else,” she said.

When looking back on your banking career, what achievement are you most proud of and why?

Relationships that I have built with community members, customers, co-workers and business peers. I have crossed paths with so many people over the past 24 years that have impacted my life in one way or another. I am most proud of being part of a team and contributing to one another’s successes by sharing knowledge and experience.

What piece of advice would you give to your past self or to anyone considering a career in banking?

Banking has so many different career paths to choose from. It is an industry of opportunity and growth with jobs that include sales, administration, managerial, IT, marketing, operations, risk management and human resources to name a few. You can explore the different paths and find your joy. For me, I found my passion in banking and I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What is your best elevator pitch for why banking is a great career?

Banking is rewarding and challenging and can offer the potential for growth and a sense of purpose in your professional life. If you enjoy serving others, life-long learning, being part of a team, collaborating with peers, being involved in your community, then I suggest this career path for you.

How does getting involved with the Iowa Bankers Association help you and your bank?

Iowa Bankers offers so much in educational training, news, research and advocacy for the success of community banks.

When you’re not at work, what do you like to do most?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends making memories.

Live every moment, laugh every day, love beyond words.
