Leadership

The Iowa Bankers Association offers a full range of training and education opportunities for emerging bank leaders.

IBA Leadership Programs

The IBA offers two annual programs to enhance bank leaders.

Leaders in Advocacy

This program was created to establish an advocacy base of young leaders who are educated on banking industry issues and understand how to effectively communicate with legislators and regulators. The class will meet from January through October, followed by continuous involvement in IBA advocacy efforts throughout their banking careers.

The Leaders in Advocacy program plays a significant role in the development of strong advocates for the banking industry, but also gives bankers the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of advocacy while networking with bank leaders around the state. The class will participate in meetings and visits to the Capitol, including attending Gov. Kim Reynolds’ Condition of the State address and the IBA’s Capitol Hill Visit in Washington, D.C. Each participant will also work to establish a bank advocacy plan to implement at their banks.

Iowa Bank Leadership

The Bank Leadership Institute is a five-month program to enhance the leadership, organizational and performance skills of mid- to upper-level bankers. It includes five sessions centered on developing skills through creative instruction and active participation.

Peer Groups

IBA has a number of peer groups in several focus areas to foster the exchange of information in a confidential and congenial setting. Peer groups establish a network where you can ask questions, share ideas and gather best practices.
